Steve Austin e Jamie Sommers sono in procinto di sposarsi. Tuttavia, prima che possano fare il grande passo succede qualcosa a Jamie. Le sue parti bioniche non funzionano e nessuno sa cosa c'è di sbagliato in lei. Sembra che qualcuno le abbia fatto qualcosa. Lì ritrova Helen, una sua amica d'infanzia rimasta vedova con il figlio Kenny, un ragazzo di vent'anni ribelle e sognatore. Lila viene assalita dai ricordi ma quando il suo fidanzato, Rick, l'amministratore della compagnia, fugge via portando con sè i loro miseri guadagni, Madame Olga la caccia. Non sapendo dove andare, Lila chiede ospitalità a Helen ma il tempo passa senza che lei riesca a trovare un lavoro per cui si arrangia dando una mano in casa. Quando però Kenny si innamora di lei, Lila deve lasciare la casa di Helen e finisce a fare la spogliarellista. Il ragazzo la raggiunge per chiederle di tornare a Salison e rimanere con lui, ma Lila è irremovibile. Ha trovato in sé la forza di rifarsi una vita.

Frank Andrews is a successful businessman. He has always found pride and joy in the company of his wife, son and daughter. He suddenly finds himself enthralled by the advances of a gay young woman siren, who lives in the same apartment house as he does. So marked an influence does she have over him as time progresses that at last he quite forgets his home ties, neglects his family, and goes the way of many other men who have forgotten the meaning of paternity and blood ties. The story is advanced through many scenes enacted with the accompanying notes of New York's night life, and the denouement comes when the faithful wife discovers her husband's infidelity. At this time the mother's mind nearly loses balance, while Jane, the beautiful daughter, crazed by the grief of her mother, determines to take part in the tragedy. With revolver in hand she steals up to the apartment of the woman, but her frail nature is overcome by the temperamental anger of the woman and her mission fails.

Pierre , a young lawyer, has enormous debts due to his mistress Florence and her whims of luxury life. Pierre has gone too far and put the family firm in jeopardy. They ask him to expatriate. To avoid scandal, Pierre joins the Foreign Legion. In Morocco, near the desert, Pierre goes with his comrades of the Legion to a bar-restaurant-brothel, owned by a shady character, Mr. Clement . Clement lives more or less with Ms.Blanche who is a fortune teller with cards, as a hobby. But Clement is also after his girls now and then. Pierre is still obsessed with Florence but he meets Irma , one of Clement's girls, who is the double of Florence except for hair color. Irma has had an accident and has lost part of her memory at a certain point of her recent past, and Pierre slowly persuades himself she is Florence, but cannot remember it. Advised by Ms.Blanche, Irma finally accepts to act as if she was Florence because she is falling in love with Pierre.

The would-be thief then begins a relationship with the photographer and attempts to retrieve the photos. Meanwhile, the thieves' plot consists of this: one man will enter the bank building after dark, while the other man sits in a van and uses a computer to unlock the building's doors. The final step involves transporting the cash to a freight ship waiting on the docks, for transportation to a money launderer in Macau.
