Guilherme Duarte: Só de Passagem / 2020
Passagem por Lisboa / 1994
Lisbon, early 1940s. The neutral port town is an open door to freedom, for those who are escaping the Nazi occupied France and eastern European countries, and a war field for spies of every description. Lisbon became a cosmopolitan town, where the Duke of Windsor, Primo de Rivera, Pola Negri, Leslie Howard, Walter Schellenberg and Juan Garcia are often together in the luxury hotels and night-clubs. Espionage and crime go hand in hand, despite of, or encouraged by, the Portuguese secret police.
Tilman - Passages of India / 2020
After my stay in India, I returned to find myself filled with images and a deep nostalgia for what I had just lived. Time went by and these images faded away. This is my attempt to recreate those narratives, my attempt to dust the memories of a previous life, that just keeps fading with every passing day. I fill their absence with music, and blurry images and the sound of trees in the mountains and the burning sun that tanned my skin...I fill them with passages from India.

Unfinished Passages / 2005
Archival images and a contraflow of texts trace the migration of the artist’s great-grandfather from England to the Canadian prairies. Using the shadow play of light and darkness as a metaphor for human memory, unfinished passages reframes this forced immigration/orphan experience through the developing lens of the cinema.
Passage Through Infinity / 2012
genizah; passages from the lublin book graveyard / 2018

Notes on the Passage of Time / 1979
A three colour separation study filmed at Pearl Beach, which examines the same scene of Amethyst Avenue during the progression of a winter, then a summer day. With the sea in the background, the moving objects such as the pedestrians, cyclists, traffic are transparent and ephemeral while the stationary objects are opaque and retain a permanent quality. A strange, almost surreal quality illustrating the transitional nature of life.

Right of Passage /
A bold, no-holds-barred look at the 50-year odyssey of the Civil Liberties Act of 1988, which offered an unprecedented US government apology to Japanese Americans who were imprisoned during World War 2. Presented through the Reagan Presidency, it is also an expose of a community known as the model minority.
Summer Storm Passage / 1965
"This film, which dates from 1964, has always satisfied me. I believe the footage was completed before the assassination of Kennedy – an event that changed many things. I had made only silent films until I made THE ELMS, which followed upon this one. SSP is a film whose form I had in mind from the outset. It was to be a visual piece structured in a 'musical' manner. It would have three movements in differing visual 'tempi'. Rhythms, counterpoint, theme and variation, and so on were to be in mind as I filmed and edited. The thematic material would develop slowly, and there would be recapitulations and so on. The three sections are entitled 'Barn', 'Summer Storm', and 'Bird'. A sense of place, shelter, and fertility. A welcoming of the necessary summer storm of birthing. A child’s wonder and excitement at experiencing the vast unfolding world." –Abbott Meader
A Passage to Wetness / 1990
An island. A mountain. A City of Angels who scoop up the pellets dropped by other winged creatures.
